Curacao, September 17, 2021 – In September 2021, the worldwide cleanup month, LionsDive Beach Resort is launching a new green campaign. For every room night booked directly through the resort’s own hotel website, the GreenKidz Foundation will receive $1. These funds will be used to provide local schools with free Kòrsou Limpi teaching materials in support of environmental education.
GreenKidz coordinator Maya Mathias is extremely happy with this sustainable partnership. Mathias: ‘LionsDive was already one of our first sponsors in 2015 and has done so much for us. With this new campaign, that sponsorship will become even more sustainable. With their donations from the 1-dollar-a-night campaign, we can develop new teaching materials and give them away for free to schools in primary and special education.’
This summer GreenKidz developed a colorful Kòrsou Limpi teaching program about waste and litter in Dutch and Papiamentu, which can be downloaded for free at www.greenkidz.org. Mathias: ‘Our school and activity books contain beautiful coloring pictures, games, puzzles and tests and stimulate children to think about waste and litter in a problem-solving way. We teach children about the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Refuse and encourage them to participate in the annual World Clean Up day.’
Kòrsou Limpi teaching materials for the Schotborgh School
Ruth van de Geer, marketing coordinator at LionsDive was so enthusiastic about the teaching materials, that she organized a sponsoring activity for World Clean Up Day. The Schotborgh School, located near the hotel, has been supported by LionsDive for years. This year, the hotel donated Kòrsou Limpi activity and schoolbooks to all the senior classes of the school. Mathias: “Our goal is to provide all students in primary and special education on Curaçao with Kòrsou Limpi books in the coming years. With the 1-dollar-a-night campaign of LionsDive, we will surely come a long way!’
