Amstel Curucao Race big success!
It has been hard work for everybody involved, but the 6th edition proved itself to be a big success......again! And with the yellow jersey of Alberto Contador as champion, we could not wish for a better final. The only dissappointment was the knee of Michael Boogerd. There has been talked about it enough; we will stick to the fact he was not able to race in his final Amstel Curacao Race. But that did not mean we did not have a great 'good bye' party for him. During the afterparty of the cycling season at next door Mambo Beach, Michael and his family were asked to step on the stage and listen to a standing ovation of approx. 2000 cycling fans. With fireworks in the sky, it was a very emotional good bye and we sincerely hope he will be back to Curacao in the near future!
Back to the race itself. We had Bart Brentjes, Frank Schleck, Thomas Dekker and Alberto Contador in the finally of the race. Former world champion and green jersey of the tour de france, Tom Boonen, was not able to participate due to 2 flat tires. The last meters were between Dutch talent Thomas Dekker and Alberto Contador, but you can see it all on the pictures in our photo album. www.lionsdive.com/photo_album.html.
And that was not it! The Sunday after the big race we organised the Kids Beach Cross. And maybe that was even a bigger success. All these sporty kids on the beach....... please take a look for yourself in our photo album!. www.lionsdive.com/photo_album.html
